Plasma Treatment and Coating

Plasma, an ionized form of gas, due to its high electrical conductivity and chemical reactivity enables to modify the physical attributes of surfaces. Metal, plastic and bio-materials treated with plasma, which in regular conditions show nonpolar properties, obtain a homogeneous finish and adhesive features to enhance the following coating process. By reducing pressure, temperature-sensitive surfaces can be treated with plasma without damage.

In order to prevent potential contamination, further processing is carried out in ISO class 7 clean room. Purity of activated surfaces can be additionally controlled by using a microscope. Low pressure plasma treatment effects:

  •  Activation of polymer chains
  •  Polymerisation of suitable monomers
  •  Reduction of oxide layers
  •  Etching

Typical application areas:

catheters coating.
